The Lyngen alps are no secret for offpiste enthusiasts, and the majestic mountains have become more and more popular over the recent years. The best way to reach the alps is to take a boat from Tromso to the remote locations on the Lyngen peninsula and then use your feet to get to the tops. The alps are totally undeveloped and a protected area with the aim of maintaining the range’s raw natural qualities for future generations. This includes not allowing any ski lifts or heliskiing operations, so the only way to reach a peak and access potentially awesome slopes of untouched powder is under your own steam.
Best time of year is from end of March until middle of May. Lyngen Lodge offers arranged tours with guiding, equipment, boat transport and transfers to and from Tromso airport. More info at lyngenlodge.com
